BlueVIS Offline Data Importer

You'll never have to enter offline data manually again – here comes BODI

During fermentation data will be collected from online measurements like gas analysis, dO-, pH- or temperature. BlueVIS will store this data directly into a SQL database. In that way the data can be immediately be used for process control. However, besides online measurements offline measurements like chromatography, spectrometric measurements or cell counts are often used e.g. for analysis of the product or biomass. In most cases all this data is written into separate text files and is not accessible for direct process control.

BODI stands for „BlueVIS offline data importer“ and this is exactly what it does. With the help of BODI data from offline measurements can be imported into the database and thus can be used for process control. As soon as an offline instrument creates a text file with this data, BODI can directly import the offline data into BlueVIS database.

Either a simple row/column-based parser or a more complex, freely configurable parser can be used, which intelligently searches the text file for the appropriate keywords based on defined conditions.

What is a parser?

A parser is a set of instructions on how to interpret a text file from a specific source. This includes, for example, whether a period or comma is used as the decimal separator or which separator is used between two entries in the text.
These instructions need to be created once and can then be re-used for the corresponding device.

If, for example, the measured biomass is always found in column 3 and row 5 of the text file, this information can be stored as a row/column-based parser. If the position of the read value can change between two measurements, it is better to use a condition-based parser that can search for a keyword at the beginning of the line, for example.

Watchdog Function

Using the Watchdog Function selected folders can be observed. A new text file in this folder will be detected automatically and a pre-selected parser can be used to import the data into the BlueVIS database. This means that immediately after completing the offline measurement, the measurement value can be used for process control in BlueVIS.
