FREE Seminar on “Using off-gas analysis for bioprocess optimization” October 6th at UAB Barcelona
In microbial and cell cultures Off-gas analysis allows an easy and non-invasive way to monitor metabolic activity to obtain important process parameters such as OUR, CTR and RQ, do mass balance calculations and much more. Currently, it is a very important Bioprocess Engineering tool in order to optimize bioprocesses. It will be a one day seminar in cooperation between BlueSens Gas Sensor GmbH from Germany and UAB Barcelona. Talks will give insight in the function of gas analyzers and how they can help you to optimize your process. Numerous examples of use will be given by the speakers. The seminar will start at 9:30h and end at 15:00h. A lunchbreak and a coffeebreak are included to resolve specific questions and give space to create networking between the participants. Lectures on gas analyzer technology will be given by Mr. Matthias Wiltfang (BlueSens). Dr. Xavier Garcia Ortega, a post-doc researcher from UAB, will give an insight in the “Use of off-gas analysers for the monitoring of the physiological estate of bioprocesses”. As a guest speaker Prof. Victoria E. Santos Mazorra from Universidad Complutense de Madrid will present the “Use of off-gas analysers to model bioprocesses”. The seminar is free of charge and will be held on October 6th at UAB Barcelona. Due to the limited space availability we kindly ask you to send your registration data to Vertrieb@bluesens.de before October 3rd. We are looking forward to welcome you.
BlueSens Homepage presents its new look

One young lady and her school mates of the Städtische Gymnasium Herten (STGH) achieved the second place in the school competition “hybrid plant” of the Zdi MINT.REgio Netzwerks which is dealing with the combination of different energy sources. Last year the groups of Mr. Reichert and Mrs. Keenan ran a greenhouse via wind and solar power. At that time they achieved the sole lead in the competition. This year energy generation from biogas was complemented. Here BlueSens supported the team of young investigators with their CO2 and CH4 sensors to optimize gas production and control the process. In addition to that an automated watering system was installed. Our congratulations to the group for their achievement and for their excellent commitment in the realization of their ideas. Keep it up!
“We started as a 2 man show with single sensors, todays BCPs, in the technology center in Herten where we worked late nights,” Dr. Udo Schmale one of the founders and managing directors of BlueSens remembers. Having a good sense for the market and the needs of the customers quickly a specialized product portfolio evolved. 2010 the popular O2/CO2 measuring device
Blue InOne conquered the market as the new state of the art and replaced the traditional technologies. In 2012 the Yieldmaster system for easy bio-methane potential measurement was released. Meanwhile the company belongs to the key players in the market and employs about 25 people. “I am convinced that the close relationship to our customers as well as our innovative capacity brought us to where we are now. Also this year we have another surprise for our customers. Everyday each employee gives his best to build our success and this generates a special working atmosphere” Dr. Müller, the second founder and managing director, happily states. In September there will be the time for a birthday celebration with all employees.
A healthy mind in a healthy body. Several years ago BlueSens decided to sponsor youth basketball teams of Hertener Löwen (Herten Lions). By strengthening the trainer team the kids can be raised to an advanced level. The kids get the chance to develop their potential to be individually supported afterwards. Besides the athletic support the kids are able to get insights into the high-tec world of BlueSens from time to time and learn that in addition to success in sports also good school marks pay off. Since for some of the lions the success has already shown BlueSens decided to extend the sponsorship to the youth basketball league. In the future besides the Lions the JBBL team “Carbon Baskets” profit from the athleticism of the founders of BlueSens.
Both Managing Directors are active in sports since their younger days. Dr Schmale was playing Basketball during his school times. Dr. Müller was playing handball and fought successfully in Judo. After their studies both met in Münster for their PhDs and formed a new research group. Together they studied until late nights and finally bought one of the resulting patents to found the company in Herten.
“Athletic support of kids and teenagers notably is near to our hearts”, says Dr. Müller, one of the two managing directors. “Because we are aware that in addition to success in sports also good school marks are important we regularly offer traineeships and supervise Bachelor and Master Theses. We cross our fingers for both teams and hope for another successful and thrilling season in 2017.
